About the Internship

James R. Alexander practiced law in Dallas for 70 years. He was a member of the American Bar Association, the Dallas Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas and the Dallas Estate Planning Association. James graduated from SMU in 1943 with Bachelor of Business Administration and the University of Texas Law School in 1946.James passed away on November 24, 2016 in Dallas at the age of 93.

 

Among his volunteer and philanthropic endeavors, James exemplified lifelong membership in Sigma Alpha Mu. He was initiated into Sigma Alpha Mu at SMU (Mu Alpha Chapter) in 1941 and was active at the University of Texas (Sigma Theta Chapter) where he earned his law degree. He was the 15th recipient of Sigma Alpha Mu's Distinguished Service Award in recognition of more than seven decades of continuous volunteer service encouraging academic excellence, and the development of leadership skills in collegiate men.

 

The Dallas Bar Foundation is pleased to announce that a six-week summer internship at a local non-profit organization has been established and will be awarded for the first time in the Summer of 2023.
